So you do not think that a series that involves that high of a number of instances where someone "falls" face-first into someone's crotch, boobs, or other sexually suggestive position ALONE is somewhat insulting to a persons intelligence? That we are supposed to overlook the fact that the plot is embarrassingly far-stretched from day 1, the girls all have perfectly type-casted personalities, almost all of them are in some way attracted to the main character, who is (stereotypically) nerdy, clumsy, awkward, submissive, and a doormat?

REALLY?
Because if you REALLY believe that a show like that could have mass appeal to an audience who prefers an intelligent, well written plot (or at least something that makes you think JUST A LITTLE), ...then I'll relent that for ya.

>>So you don't think it's REALLY bad?

That's not what >>206325 said.
What he said was that it's not that surprising to be called a troll if you insult someone else's taste.
And I agree with him, the fact that LH doesn't sound like my cup of tea at all has nothing to do with that.

  No.206333   Report

>>206326

You described Love Hina pretty well, but how exactly is that insulting to anyone's intelligence? It's just a lighthearted comedy. It's silly and funny, and has a lot of fanservice.

Insulting to one's intelligence, IMHO, is more like the dubbed version of Ghost in the Shell. The dialogue was rewritten to explain exactly what is going on, assuming the viewer was too stupid to figure it out from simply watching. I find that sort of thing to be terribly annoying. Granted, Love Hina isn't deep or thought provoking--but that's no different than most anime, manga, western comics, or TV in general.

  No.206337   Report

The Love Hina anime is pretty horrible. The manga, however, is a lot nicer. As is usually the case. It's pretty over the top most of the time, but fun.

  No.206338   Report

>>206326, >>206327

Exactly. What I think about Love Hina is immaterial. Your point was that you were called a troll because you disagreed with someone's opinion, which isn't true. You were called a troll because you voiced your opinion as an ad hominem attack.

To be honest, Koyomi Mizuhara isn't a real woman, she's some dude's idea of a woman, right? She doesn't have a life--even her "official" existence is only in the space of a few tankobon and a few hours of screen time. So if it's Yomi (or any other anime character) specifically you want to get off with, I don't see the problem with getting off with a dollers.

On a similar tangent, before I learned of the existence of Try! Try! Try!, I always thought that Yotsuba was a composite expy of characters from Azumanga Daioh, specifically Chiyo's cheerful, positive demeanor and (retooled) appearance, Tomo's genki girly-ness, and Osaka's absent-mindedness.

Yotsuba is 5, almost six, but she has never been to any formal schooling. From what I can gather, preschool in Japan is voluntary.

Starting at 18mths to 5years, however most parents want to give their kids a head start.

Is Koiwai a bad parent for not wanting to educate his child? Was Yotsuba rejected from the private preschools because she has green hair?

It's not just that she's riding without a seatbelt here while the vehicle is moving (no one else is, either), but that she's also sitting in the front passenger seat.

At her age, I was legally required (under NY state law) to be secured in a booster seat in the back until I was about 8, and even then I still couldn't sit up front until I was 13.

Even if it's Jumbo's car, it shouldn't be his authority that counts, but that of the law; but apparently even that is pretty relaxed in Japan (if Azuma's depiction is to be heretofore believed).

  No.206278   Report

Weird, I grew up riding in the front seat from the time I no longer needed a special baby car seat (assuming there were no other adults in the car since they always got shotgun).

And just because she's twised around doesn't mean her seatbelt isn't fastened. Kids are great at getting into all kinds of positions while buckled in. I remember one time when I was little I managed to completely change clothes in the back seat of a moving car, all without undoing my seat belt.

  No.206288   Report

That's insane! In California, I guess you have to be in a booster seat till a certain age or weight, but it's not enforced at all. I never had to sit in one since I was four (maybe three. Was pretty young when I enrolled into kindergarten), same with my sister's kids.
Guess Californians are expendable ;)
